FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling)

BYKO decided to bet on 3D printing as a new method to make architectural prototypes. This new technology has allowed him to design much faster and modify models in less time, reducing the creation of each part from 2 weeks to 3 days.

About BYKO

BYKO is a company that offers Integrated Management services in projects and risk control in the architectural and construction sector. BYKO provides resources to plan, direct and control all the factors that are part of the design, planning and execution process in the construction market.

Reducing the creation of parts and models from 2 weeks to 3 days

“The integration of the UltiMaker S5 has given a plus of quality in our way of materializing our ideas in the initial phases of the projects to be able to show it to the clients. Before, we didn't usually make models because it took us a long time and cost a lot, and if we did, they were laser cut or made of cardboard manually. With the new 3D printer, all we have to do is put the 3D model in the printer and it does the job itself.”

The challenge: design parts and make modifications in much less time

BYKO is dedicated to creating projects in the construction market for different sectors, such as hospitality, industry, educational and medical centers, among others. And on many occasions, these projects need to be materialized with models to be shown to their clients.

For this reason, the company was looking for a manufacturing method with which to create prototypes without having to invest a lot of time or high costs, since until then it did not usually make models and the few that it created were laser cut or manually.

The solution: 3D printing

From INTECH3D we studied the needs of BYKO, which used to manufacture this type of models through Subtractive Technology and a machining center. The best solution for them was the application of an easy-to-use 3D printer, with which to create scale models of their designs during the initial stage of the projects.

  • Applied 3D technology: FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling)
  • 3D materials used: PLA (Polylactic acid), and PETG (Glycolmodified Polyethylene Terephthalate).
Project results: Reduction of costs and manufacturing times thanks to 3D printing

Now, 3D printing allows BYKO to quickly create architectural prototypes and materialize project ideas from an early stage. This allows them to be much more competitive and be part of a potential market to increase the value of their projects. Plus, thanks to the power of 3D printing, they can modify concepts in less time and don't have to wait to create new models by hand.

Thanks to the new manufacturing method in 3D printing that BYKO currently uses, the possibility of laying out each of the projects has been offered and reducing the manufacturing time of each component from 2 weeks to 3 days. The multiple printing possibilities of the 3D machine allow them to create complex shapes that they could not before, in addition to using more than 90% of the raw materials that were previously wasted.

From INTECH3D we are very happy to be able to be part of the evolution and speed of the prototypes currently manufactured at BYKO, helping them find the best 3D printing technology for their work methodology, training their workers and supplying them with all the necessary material to continue manufacturing your projects in record times.

The INTECH3D 3D Consulting process

INTECH3D we are business advisers and consultants, in the field of the integration of additive production technologies in the value chains of companies. We take responsibility for the correct integration of the teams in the value chain of each company or business:

  • Advice during the choice of the right technology
  • Marketing of equipment, consumables and spare parts
  • Training for the use of the necessary Hardware and Software
  • Integrated equipment maintenance
  • Official technical service for all products marketed

The INTECH3D technical team has more than 6 years of experience in various 3D printing technologies. We have different technologies and manufacturing materials with 3D printing, to cover the different technological or business needs of each sector:

  • Conceptual prototypes
  • Functional prototypes
  • Final components
  • Workshop tools
  • Spare parts
  • Short and medium production series.

It is also very important that all the departments of the same company know all the possibilities and benefits that 3D printing can bring to their sector:

  • Risk reduction in manufacturing
  • Reduced manufacturing costs
  • Reduced manufacturing time
  • Validation with a prototype before making an investment in final manufacturing
  • Manufacture "on demand", without discarding material.
  • Reduction of the "Time to Market" of the final product
  • Manufacture of "Bridge" series to know its fit in the market
  • Possibility of making short production series
  • Elimination of time in the provision of Stock

If you want to apply 3D printing technology in your company or business, do not hesitate to contact us. We are at the service of companies for the immediate resolution of any doubt or query related to the use of the equipment.
